Description

This is an interactive course designed to educate residents, fellows and medical students on peripheral nerve anatomy, physiology, and operative approaches. The course consists of two didactic sessions, an interactive laboratory time for dissection in the morning and afternoon, and a prosected cadaver specimen to review clinical and surgical anatomy.

Objectives

  • Define clinical anatomy of the peripheral nervous system, including the brachial plexus and its branches, the lumbar plexus and its branches, spinal nerve roots, and cervical plexus.
  • Discuss surgical anatomy for approaches to pathology of the peripheral nervous system, including incision planning, operative exposure, surrounding anatomic structures, and surgical technique.
