Description

The Cleft Palate Craniofacial Symposium is to bring knowledge to providers in identifying the basic etiology, pathophysiology and the treatment modalities of cleft lip and palate, as well as, identify the timing of medical, surgical and dental intervention necessary in the care of children with cleft lip and/or palate from birth through adolescence.

Objectives

  • Identify the basic etiology, pathophysiology and the treatment modalities of cleft lip and palate.
  • Coordinate the necessary care for patients with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies with other physicians, dentists and specialties to assure the appropriate treatment is being given.
  • Identify these patients and the different specialist referrals that may be necessary.
  • Learn about the Clift Palate Craniofacial Center and how different specialties can make use of our service. 
  • Identify the different diagnoses that may go along with these birth defects. 
  • Develop the most effective treatment plan for these patients and be able to monitor that the patient and his/her family are following this plan. 
  • Identify the role each member of the Cleft Palate Craniofacial Center plays in the care of the child.
  • Identify the timing of medical, surgical and dental intervention necessary in the care of children with cleft lip and/or palate from birth through adolescence.
