Objectives
- Recognize the clinical role of abbreviated breast MRI.
- Describe advantages and limitations of the ultrafast technique.
- Discuss evidence-based indications for surveillance breast imaging in breast cancer survivors.
- Review existing guidelines for surveillance breast imaging from medical professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology (ACR), American Cancer Society (ACS), National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
- Identify common pitfalls and limitations of AI algorithms, including bias, false positives/negatives, and generalizability across populations.
- Discuss real-world case examples demonstrating how AI can enhance clinical decision-making in beast cancer screening.
- Describe common and uncommon pediatric breast lesions.
- Apply safe and appropriate management approaches to breast lesions in young patients.
- Differentiate traditional risk assessment models and image-based risk assessment tools.
- Review risk categories for estimated 5 year and lifetime breast cancer risk.
- Analyze components critical to successful implementation of a risk assessment program into a busy breast imaging practice.
- Recognize strengths and limitations of digital breast tomosynthesis.
- Describe suspicious tomographic findings warranting full assessment.
- Review the utility of anatomic versus functional based breast imaging modalities.
- Compare and contrast existing guidelines for supplemental screening from medical professional organizations, including the ACR, ACS, NCCN and ASCO.
- Define commonly used terms in audits.
- Distinguish outcomes and auditing requirements for the ACR and the FDA.
- Calculate basic performance measures and benchmarks.
- Highlight sources of frequent confusion.
- Discuss the evolving epidemiology of Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) in the United States.
- Classify features predictive of upstaging from ductal carcinoma in situ to invasive malignancy.
- Examine eligibility, effectiveness, safety, and interim results from active monitoring clinical trials of ductal carcinoma in situ.
- Describe age-appropriate initial imaging step of symptomatic women.
- Recognize suspicious clinical symptoms and understand the role of imaging.
- Recognize perceptive and interpretive errors.
- Correctly apply do's and don'ts to minimize these errors.
