  • Understand the stages of chronic kidney disease.
  • Recognize common complications of chronic kidney disease especially anemia and abnormalities of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, their pathophysiology and management.
  • Discuss hypertension in the community, its demographics and complications.
  • identify the renal complications of diabetes mellitus, its pathophysiology and approach to management.
  • Describe the different types of kidney stones, their pathophysiology and management.
  • Recognize the significance of proteinura, the diseases associated with it and its management.
  • Understand how to manage the stable renal transplant patient and to be able to recognize and anticipate major complications.
  • Describe the pathophysiology and etiology of hyponatremia in clinical practice and have an understanding of the approach to its management.
