COVID-19: An Evolving Disease

Dates and Times

Start: 12/11/2024 8:00 AM
End: 12/11/2024 9:00 AM

Objectives

1. Provide an overview of the extensive research efforts of the World Trade Center Health Program into Acute COVID-19 and Post-Acute COVID-19 Sequelae (PACS) in the World Trade Center (WTC) responder cohort.

2. Suggest a relationship between PACS and changes in cognition, as well as changes in cognition resulting from PACS and neuroinflammation.

3. Through a review of published peer-reviewed research efforts, showcase the evidence pointing towards a possible explanation of immune dysregulation as the cause of changes in cognition and neuroinflammation.

4. Characterize the widespread nature of PACS in the WTC responder cohort, especially neurological PACS.

5. Demonstrate the need to better understand the underlying explanation for PASC in WTC responders and work to develop effective treatment strategies for those still suffering.
