Objectives
1. Discuss the history of the field of medical genetics.
2. Describe the various modern genetic testing methodologies and how they are used.
3. Distinguish monogenic disorders from non-monogenic disorders.
4. Compare the advances in medical genetics between a monogenic example such as polycystic kidney disease with a non-monogenic example such as APOL-1 kidney disease.
5. Describe how advances in medical genetics have impacted the clinical practice of nephrology and what the future holds.
