Description

Plastic Surgery topics are presented by experts in their fields and are selected as highly relevant and important to the development of a current base of medical knowledge necessary to maintain a high level of care. These presentations are intended to introduce resident, faculty and medical students the most current and accepted approaches to the discipline of Plastic Surgery including medical problem solving, surgical skills, and new techniques in diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives

1. Describe in detail the neurologic anatomy and innervation of the hand and upper extremity.
2. Identify in detail the anatomy of the major nerves and their branchings in the upper extremity including relationships to surrounding structures.
3. Draw the anatomy of the brachial plexus.
4. Incorporate appropriate radiology studies including ultrasound, CT, MRI, CT Myelogram in evaluating patients with upper extremity nerve injury
5. Discriminate the principles of electrical evaluation and recite knowledge of the techniques of electrical examination of the upper extremities including nerve conduction studies and EMG evaluation.
