 Three speakers from Alan Alda Center will present topics: "From Research to Public Action: Communicating Science for Change", "Incorporating Community into your Public Health Communication Plan” and "Making the Case for Applied Improvisation in Healthcare Communication Training". one speaker did not attend due to illness.

Objectives

1.To introduce building a public health plan, community engagement, and how I plan to use Alda resources in a new study I’m proposing by Dr. Mary Andrews (did not present due to illness)

2. To share insights on what the Alda center does from a research perspective and focus on a funded project I led for the U.S. Department of State by Dr. Ruobing Li

3. To share the background of applied improvisation in healthcare (often called medical improv), how researchers are starting to measure its impact, describe the work that the Alda Center has done with Stony Brook Medicine through several partnerships, and introduce some ways that individuals can promote this method of teaching healthcare communication by Dr. Elizabeth Bojsza
