Description

An overview of the pursuit of optimizing resident and provider handoffs in various clinical settings.

Objectives

1) To examine strengths and weaknesses in resident handoffs across various clinical settings, including the outpatient setting, psychiatric emergency room and psychiatric inpatient unit, with salient examples from current residents

(2) To review and interpret existing published data, including formal guidelines and recommendations, with an eye toward tailoring our handoff approach to meet or exceed current standards

(3) To foster meaningful discussion among trainees and other faculty members about setting achievable and measurable goals in the pursuit of optimizing provider handoffs
