Description

Cytopathologist-performed Ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (US-FNA) has improved patient care quality and efficiency over past two decades. This seminar presents the Stony Brook's leading efforts at the national organization (the American Society of Cytopathology, ASC) 1) to close the gap by exploring the potential for a standardized US-FNA report format; 2) to teach residents and fellows US-FNA as a part of Pathology educational curriculum; and 3) to have participants familiar with Cytopathologist-operated US-FNA practice including efficient patient care and proper documentation to support billing. Global survey results, literature review, case examples, and 10 ASC recommendations for practicing US-FNA will be presented in this seminar.
