University Hospital - Stony Brook, NY
May 23rd, 2018
1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours

Description

Clinical history and a high suspicion are prerequisite to detecting Gallbladder Carcinoma. Patients with early invasive Gallbladder Carcinoma are most often asymptomatic, or have nonspecific symptoms that mimic or are due to Cholelithiasis or Cholecystitis. As a result, early detection is difficult. Misinterpretation of microscopic abnormalities contribute to diagnostic failures in early cases. If there is any evidence of mural thickening, thorough sampling and close examination of deeply seeded glandular structures, with clinical and radiographic correlation are important to avoid misdiagnosis.
