Objectives

  • Describe the evidence for a genetic susceptibility to Thyroid autoimmunity
  • Know the major susceptibility genes for Thyroid autoimmunity and the mechanisms by which they predispose to disease
  • Understand the epigenetic interaction between environmental factors and the thyroglobulin gene that triggers AITD
  • Identify drug targets that were discovered through genetic studies in AITD.
