We will discuss the methodology and evidence behind the creation of the Stony Brook hip fracture protocol and share early outcomes and ongoing challenges

1 .Define the geriatric hip fracture patient population and the need for a protocol to approach their evaluation and management

2. Describe problems with the previous system of care and areas for improvement; including the chief goal of facilitating time to operating room of less than 48 hours for these patients

3. Illustrate the development of the protocol and explain its components

4. Share early outcomes and ongoing challenges
