Description

This presentation will familiarize the audience with contemporary and evolving tibial plateau fracture classification and fixation schemes. Surgical exposure, reduction and fixation techniques will be emphasized. A multicenter published clinical series of staged fixation efforts performed at Stony Brook Health Care Sciences Center will be reviewed with the inclusion of an outcome analysis.

Objectives

1. Describe and discuss contemporary axial and coronal based tibial plateau fracture classification schemes.

2. Describe posterior approach access strategies to address tibial plateau fractures.

3. Discuss the indications attributes and limitations of combined surgical exposures when managing tibial plateau fractures.

4. Discuss virtues of staged tibial plateau fixation methods.
