Objectives

1) Describe the adaptations that allowed Helicobacter pylori to colonize the human stomach and its interaction with the human host.

2) Review indications for the testing of H. pylori and the different testing modalities.

3) Discuss treatment options for H. pylori and the challenges due to increasing antibiotic resistance.
