Description
The aim is to educate perioperative clinicians and allied health professionals on the concept of the management of PONV in the context of surgical enhanced recovery strategy, identify the risk factors for PONV, options for prevention as well as treatment of PONV following surgery, with or without prior prophylactic antiemetic therapy. The recent ASER and SAMBA sponsored Consensus Guidelines for the management of PONV will be reviewed. In addition the various elements of enhanced recovery, the implementation of PONV and ERAS protocols will be presented.

Objectives
• Describe the incidence, etiology, risk factors & risk scoring methods associated with nausea & vomiting in the surgical setting
• Describe the mechanism of PONV and pharmacology of antiemetics
• Discuss multimodal approaches for the management of PONV in the context of ERAS
