The stigma of mental health in today's culture

Objectives

1. Learner swill be able to list major historical events that worsened or improved the lives of people with mental illnesses and/or neurodevelopmental disorders.

2. Learners will be able to understand how major historical processes, such as the rise of capitalism and the growth of public advocacy, have affected the inclusion or marginalization of people with serious mental illnesses from community life.

3. Learners will be able to compare and contrast cultural factors that affect treatment and outcomes for people with serious mental illnesses in two or more regions of the world.
