Objectives
1) To educate practitioners about the origins of blood cells during embryogenesis
2) To illustrate how in vitro manufacture of blood cells from pluripotent stem cell sources might address deficiencies of the current blood donor system
3) To enable cardiologists to appreciate the key connection between the initiation of the heartbeat during embryonic development and the origins of hematopoietic (blood-forming) stem cells.

Maintenance of Certification
