Description
Blood banking follows the blood, starting with a donor making a donation to administration or disposal of blood and everything in between. Many strategies are employed to ensure the correct blood is provided to a patient and a number of steps are taken to decrease the risk of transfusion reactions. This talk will dive deeper into indications for blood and blood components, pre-transfusion testing with a review on commonly performed tests and review of some major blood groups.
