Description

The ACGME core competencies provide the educational framework and the basic foundation of this CME activity. Each faculty member brings their specialty specific knowledge of the literature along with their specialty specific expertise to bear on difficult spine and spinal cord cases. Treatment consensus is the ultimate goal. Discussions that do not achieve consensus strive to identify a path to consensus.

Objectives

The board seeks to obtain ever increasing knowledge of pathology, biomechanics, physiology and imaging of the spectrum of diseases and disorders of the spine and spinal cord. Below are the board’s objectives:

• To obtain ever increasing knowledge of the pathology, biomechanics, physiology, and imaging of diseases and disorders of the spine;
• Understanding spine disease/disorder diagnoses along with its implications for prognosis and treatment;
• Identify treatment successes and failures and how they relate to summary statistics;
• Critically evaluate investigational protocols and their results;
• Modify patient management and referral based on timely relevant information.
