Objectives

1) Recognize the signs and symptoms of IBD, including major differences between ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn disease (CD).
2) Understand the prognosis and potential complications of IBD.
3) Describe pharmacologic treatment options and their side effects for patients with UC and CD.
4) Outline health maintenance for patients with IBD.
