This grand round has already taken place.
September 13th, 2023 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours
Description
I will discuss the prevalence of low back pain. We will discuss the prior interventions and surgical approaches that were targeted at for the treatment of low back pain from a "discogenic source". The failure of these disc interventions as well as fusion surgery lead to further investigation of other potential sources of chronic low back pain. Modic changes on MRI have been described for many years without a direct clinical correlation to pain. The discovery of the basivertebral nerve and the substantial innervation of the vertebral endplate led to the development of basivertebral nerve ablation for the treatment of low back pain.
