Description

We will provide background on typical opioid-use practices and the importance of adequate postoperative pain control, address some common misconceptions about methadone, and review several studies which have been important in determining its pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. We will then review some dose-finding studies and several clinical trials which address the benefits and safety profile of methadone. Finally we will briefly discuss its cost and side effect profile.
