Objectives

• Define acutely decompensated heart failure (ADHF) and explain its underlying pathophysiology.

• Recognize the different clinical presentations and prognosis of ADHF

• Determine the indications, mechanisms of action and applications of current volume management strategies in ADHF

• Describe the different management strategies for initiating and optimizing guideline-directed heart failure therapies

• Explain strategies for transitions of care• Identify and understand the role of advanced interventions in heart failure management including mechanical circulatory support and end-of-life care

• Assess risk stratification for individual patients• Describe research-based interventions
