Description

This Stroke Symposium is designed to improve knowledge, competence and performance of providers engaged in the management of stroke patients by highlighting best practices and current clinical guidelines.  The goal is to reduce the gaps in the care of a stroke patient to improve outcomes.  

This symposium will be held at the MART Auditorium and virtually via Zoom.

Objectives

  • Verbalize current treatment option for chronic subdural hematoma. 
  • Review risks of stroke during pregnancy and evaluation and treatment options. 
  • Describe the development of intracranial disease process and medical surgical treatment options. 
  • Examine the role of EMS pre-hospital assessment in the achievement of acute stroke time targets.
  • Discuss how the inpatient stroke survivor support initiative help patients and families. 
  • Discuss stroke-related resources currently being done at Stony Brook Medicine.
  • Describe nursing management of a stroke patient in the neurocritical care unit.
  • Discuss its role and importance of rehabilitation in stroke recovery.
