Description
This Stroke Symposium is designed to improve knowledge, competence and performance of providers engaged in the management of stroke patients by highlighting current best practices and clinical guidelines. The goal is to reduce the gaps in the care of a stroke patient to improve outcomes.
This symposium will be held at the MART Auditorium and virtually via Zoom.

Objectives
- Discuss the different surgical approaches for patients with intracerebral hemorrhage.
- Discuss the recent practice guidelines for the management of acute ischemic stroke.
- Understand the pathophysiology of stroke in women.
- Verbalize how dysphagia affects stroke patients and treatment options for rehabilitation.
- Discuss the management of stroke found incidentally in imaging.
- Discuss the use of perfusion imaging in the diagnosis of stroke.
- Discuss stroke-related clinical studies currently being done at Stony Brook medicine.
- Verbalize nursing role in the assessment and delivery of acute treatment in the mobile stroke unit.
- Verbalize role of EMS pre-hospital assessment in the achievement of acute stroke time targets.
- Verbalize how middle meningeal artery embolization can be a treatment option for patients with refractory headache.
