Description
This workshop provides medical educators with a practical, structured approach to curriculum development using Kern’s 6-step model. Participants will review each step of the model—from problem identification and targeted needs assessment through implementation and evaluation—with an emphasis on translating educational theory into actionable curriculum design. Designed for educators involved in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education, this session emphasizes real-world applicability and provides participants with a framework they can immediately apply to their own educational projects

Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the purpose and components of each step in Kern’s 6-step model of curriculum development.
- Apply Kern’s framework to systematically analyze an educational problem in their own teaching context.
- Develop aligned goals, objectives, and educational strategies based on a targeted needs assessment.
- Identify appropriate approaches to implementation and evaluation to support continuous curriculum improvement.
