May 8th, 2026 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours
Description
A discussion on Epidemiology of SAH
Dates and Times
Start: 5/8/2026 8:00 AM
End: 5/8/2026 9:00 AM
Objectives
- Critically evaluate the reported epidemiology of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), recognizing the significant limitations of low-quality studies and understanding the true temporal trends in SAH incidence
- Analyze the central role of female smokers in the epidemiology of SAH and unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs), and discuss why this high-risk group challenges current screening strategies and paradigms.
- Explain why sporadic aneurysmal SAH is primarily a non-genetic disease and why familial screening for intracranial aneurysms is poorly justified on a genetic basis alone.
