September 2nd, 2026 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit Hours
Description
In 2025, we migrated 107 chemistry analytes from Roche Cobas to Abbott Alinity instruments. We reviewed manufacturer-led calibration, precision, linearity and method correlation data, performed reference range studies, and consulted the pediatric CALIPER database. Parathyroid hormone, hs-cTnT vs. hs-cTnI, and CA 19-9 exhibited proportional bias between platforms. Our institution-specific iPTH reference interval differed from manufacturer suggestions. We invited our oncologists to provide names of patients undergoing serial monitoring with tumor markers before go-live to perform comparisons. Following clinician feedback, we purchased third[1]party linearity materials to validate the low end of the Vit B12 measuring range, to distinguish abnormal from low-normal results. For bilirubin and free T4, markedly elevated samples were needed to recognize clinically significant bias.
Dates and Times
Start: 9/2/2026 12:00 PM
End: 9/2/2026 1:00 PM
Objectives
1) Outline how to prepare for a chemistry platform transition, including collecting uncommon samples for dynamic range testing
2) Describe when and how to inform clinicians about discordant analytes, and how to respond to clinician feedback after go-live
3)Explain how to determine acceptability of precision, method correlation, linearity/analytical measuring range (AMR) and reference interval verification studies
