Objectives
Characterize the spectrum, clinical presentation, and pathophysiology of medical and surgical emergencies that may arise in the dermatologic surgery setting.
Evaluate patient- and procedure-specific risk factors associated with perioperative morbidity and emergency events.
Integrate clinical assessment and evidence-based principles to formulate an appropriate initial response to acute perioperative emergencies.
Recognize clinical features that warrant escalation from office-based management to emergency medical intervention or higher-acuity care.
Implement systems-based approaches to emergency preparedness, interdisciplinary communication, and patient safety in dermatologic surgery practices.
