Description
Surgical Grand Rounds topics are presented by experts in their fields and are selected as highly relevant and important to the development of a current base of medical knowledge necessary to maintain a high level of care. These presentations are intended to introduce residents, faculty, and affiliated community physicians to the most current and accepted approaches to the discipline of Surgery, including medical problem solving, surgical skills, and new techniques in diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives
Topic: Hand Surgeries Every General Surgeon Should Know
Objectives:
1. To review pertinent clinical anatomy of the fingers, hand and wrist.
2. To appreciate common hand emergencies, including carpal tunnel, compartment syndrome, nail bed injuries and tendon injuries.
3. To identify when to refer patients to a center with more definitive specialized care.
Topic: Surgical Care of the Transgender Patient
Objectives:
1. Familiarize oneself with terminology relating to transgender care.
2. Identify trends in time in gender surgery.
3. Identify transgender resources at Stony Brook.
