Description

This lecture will outline the current knowledge base for perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND), including postoperative delirium (POD) and discuss the current evidence around risk factors, underlying mechanisms, incidence and consequences of experiencing PND/POD. Pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for treatment and/or prevention will be discussed, as well as multi-disciplinary care pathways to reduce the poor short, medium and long-term outcomes of PND.
