Description
OB/GYN Grand Rounds topics are presented by experts in their fields and are selected as highly relevant and important to the development of a current base of medical knowledge necessary to maintain a high level of care. These presentations are intended to introduce residents, faculty and affiliated community physicians to the most current and accepted approaches to the discipline of Obstetrics and Gynecology including medical problem solving, surgical skills and new techniques in diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives
Review the indications and appropriate utilization of basic blood products, such as packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, and platelets, in obstetric care to ensure safe and effective transfusion practices.
Discuss the specific considerations and challenges associated with transfusions in obstetrics, including maternal-fetal compatibility, volume resuscitation, and management of hemostasis during pregnancy and childbirth.
Evaluate the components and implementation of a tailored massive transfusion protocol for obstetric emergencies, emphasizing rapid response, communication, and multidisciplinary coordination to optimize outcomes for both mother and baby.
