Scientific evidence supporting that patients with schizophrenia have dopaminergic abnormalities in the striatum, along with current related research.

Objectives

1. Participants will learn the scientific evidence supporting the notion that patients with schizophrenia have dopaminergic abnormalities in the striatum. 

2. Participants will learn about research into animal models intended to reproduce these dopaminergic abnormalities in rodents. 

3. Participants will learn about new research suggesting that patients with schizophrenia may experience rewiring of basal ganglia neurocircuitry as a result of striatal dopaminergic abnormalities, which is associated with impaired cognition
