Objectives

1. Provide an overview of the definitions, burden and epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance with a focus on resistance in Enterobacterales
2. Review the global challenges of developing a new antibiotic pipeline.
3. Through review of recent mechanistic and diagnostic studies, including bacterial sequencing studies review novel insights into optimizing treatment strategies of infected patients.

4. Provide insights into interactions between antimicrobial resistance and pathogen virulence and their impact on treatment outcomes.
5. Demonstrate the need to formulate and implement novel strategies and tools for early detection and treatment of antimicrobial resistance.
