Description
This talk will focus on the current status of testing modalities and phenotypes for antimicrobial resistance found in the clinical laboratories. Topics will focus on updates in types of susceptibility testing, review common resistance mechanisms seen in clinical isolates, and trends in the usage of molecular assays in determination of markers of resistance.
Dates and Times
Start: 10/23/2024 12:00 PM
End: 10/23/2024 1:00 PM
Objectives
1. Participants should be able to discuss the major types of susceptibility tests completed routinely in the clinical microbiology laboratory.
2. Augment understanding of common resistance mechanisms and trends in antimicrobial resistance in US and locally.
3. Understand the current trends in antimicrobial susceptibility testing and discuss the limitations of current testing modalities.
