Description

Updates on disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD) and what we've learned about irritability in research settings.

Objectives

1) Review how we got from bipolar disorder to disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD).

2) Describe what we know about irritability and outbursts including treatment in clinical settings.

3) Review a bit of what we have learned about irritability in research settings.

4) Note I will be using 3 samples from Stony Brook.

Our Child OPD data base from 2/2005-4/2014 (n=~2800) 75% of whom were school evaluations.

Inpatient data base that went from 2008-2010 and 2014-2018 (n=661, ages 5-12).

Dan Klein, PhD’s Stony Brook Temperment Study, community sample of 609 children, seen q 3 years from ages 3-18 (so far).
