Improving Child Health: Screening for Social Determinants in Primary Care

Objectives
1. Understanding Basic Genetics:
o Describe the principles of genetics, including DNA structure, gene expression, and inheritance patterns.
2. Overview of Rare Diseases:
o Identify what constitutes a rare disease and provide examples of genetic rare diseases.
3. Genetic Testing and Diagnosis:
o Understand the methods for genetic testing and their applications in diagnosing rare diseases.
4. Mechanisms of Genetic Therapies:
o Explain the different types of genetic therapies, including gene therapy, RNA-based therapies, and gene editing techniques.
5. Clinical Applications:
o Understand the regulatory pathways and ethical considerations surrounding genetic therapy.
6. Understand and direct evaluation for children suspect of having PANDAS/PANS
7. Correctly guide parents on use Nirsevimab in infants; how did it work this year
8. Discuss current guidelines for short course of therapy for UTIs
