Objectives
- Understand the history of cardiac arrest resuscitation from CPR to the modern role of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
- Understand optimal post-resuscitation care after cardiac arrest and anoxic brain injury
- Understand the current state of neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest and anoxic brain injury
- Understand potential treatments for ischemia reperfusion injury after anoxic brain injury and cardiac arrest
- Recognize how scientific advances are challenging social conventions for the declaration of death by cardiopulmonary and brain death criteria
