Description
Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Rheumatology
Dates and Times
Start: 9/3/2025 8:00 AM
End: 9/3/2025 9:00 AM
Objectives
1) Recognize how the growing volume and complexity of data from electronic medical records (EMRs) can be harnessed in research and clinical care.
2) Differentiate between key artificial intelligence approaches — supervised learning, unsupervised learning, deep learning, generative AI, and large language models — and understand their potential applications in rheumatology and medicine.
3) Understand how pathology images and computer vision can be used to improve diagnosis and disease characterization in rheumatology and medicine
4) Appreciate how large language models (e.g., ChatGPT) can be applied in clinical medicine — from summarizing evidence and assisting with documentation to supporting patient communication and research workflows.
5) Identify both the opportunities and limitations of applying AI to real-world data, and envision how these tools may augment decision-making, patient outcomes, and research in the future.
