Description
This lecture covers anaphylaxis as it relates to anesthesia providers in the perioperative period, including epidemiology, common triggers, clinical recognition and differential diagnoses, acute management, post-operative evaluation, and common framework algorithms to follow.

Objectives
1. Define perioperative anaphylaxis and explain its underlying pathophysiology, including common immunologic and non-immunologic mechanisms.
2. Identify the most common perioperative triggers and risk factors for anaphylaxis.
3. Apply evidence-based principles for recognition and management of perioperative anaphylaxis, including early clinical signs, differential diagnoses, immediate treatment priorities, and post-event evaluation and referral.
