Description

Dr. Rehim will present Psychiatry Grand Rounds regarding the use of antidepressant medication in pregnancy.

Objectives

1. Identify women at risk of developing depression in the perinatal period

2. Recognize the presentation and course of Major Depressive Disorder during pregnancy and postpartum

3. Recognize use of screening scales for perinatal/postpartum depression such as Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale as standard of care

4. Demonstrate an understanding of the risks and benefits of pharmacotherapy when treating depression both peripartum and postpartum

5. Develop an individualized treatment plan for women with depression during the perinatal period based on the current evidence and review of the literature
