To discuss the global and national maternal mortality epidemiology statistics


To review the major causes of maternal mortality in the United States


To shed light on some explanations for the rising US maternal mortality


To discuss the racial disparity in maternal mortality in the the United States and the role of implicit bias in physicians


To explain the role of the anesthesia provider in improving maternal mortality


To review current national and state- based endeavors to improve maternal mortality
