A discussion on Lung-brain coupling: reframing opportunities for post-ischemic neurovascular protection

Objectives

  • Distinguish pathological targets in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and consider opportunities to limit reperfusion injury
  • Describe the signaling pathways connecting the stroke-injured brain and peripheral tissues and how these modulate tissue injury. 
  • Discuss the therapeutic applications of chemically modified tetracyclines to treat reperfusion injury following ischemic stroke.
