Objectives

1. Describe the indications for ECT in an individual with major depressive episodes in the context of bipolar disorder.

2. Discuss the balancing of therapeutic benefits and side effects in individual patients’ decision making related to ECT treatment.

3. Give at least two examples of ways in which psychiatric treatment experiences can be made more person-centered.
