TICs are a major source of cancer heterogeneity.TICs exist along a continuum of various subpopulations, each with their own characteristics and markers.Mitochondrial morphology differs between these subpopulations, therefore we hypothesize that altering morphology may impact these subpopulations and shift cells to a less aggressive state.Mitochondrial dynamics offer a unique therapeutic target for breast TICs.
