Objectives

š To understand the complex, multifactorial critical care triage decision making on admission to the Intensive Care Unit
š The intensive care unit is multidisciplinary with multiple health workers and agencies coming together for patient care
š To understand the different levels of care provided throughout the hospital, may be institution driven policies
š To understand and identify patients who may benefit from ICU and the concept of a “time-limited trial”
š Identify patients who are at risk for readmission to the ICU and how best to prevent need for readmission
