Description

OB/GYN Grand Rounds topics are presented by experts in their fields and are selected as highly relevant and important to the development of a current base of medical knowledge necessary to maintain a high level of care. These presentations are intended to introduce residents, faculty and affiliated community physicians to the most current and accepted approaches to the discipline of Obstetrics and Gynecology including medical problem solving, surgical skills and new techniques in diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives

Define the facets of fetal care coordination.

a. Define coordination of fetal care and its importance in managing high-risk pregnancies

b. Outline roles and responsibilities of our fetal care team members.

c. Explain the interdisciplinary approach involving maternal fetal medicine, neonatology, pediatric surgery & surgical subspecialities, pediatric subspecialities including palliative care.

Describe congenital conditions that may require fetal care coordination.

a. Explore Perinatal Care Planning for Fetal Conditions

b. Identify fetal indications requiring care coordination (neural tube defects, complex CHD, chromosomal abnormalities, abdominal wall defects and congenital diaphragmatic hernia)

c. Identify maternal/familial indications requiring care coordination (SSA, diabetes, PKU, family history of CHD).

d. Describe the process of developing a delivery plan and postnatal care strategy for fetuses with known anomalies.

e. Discuss the importance of location planning for delivery and neonatal.
