Description
This presentation will review practical strategies for intraoperative assessment of breast resection specimens and highlight how real-time coordination among surgery, pathology, and radiology supports accurate margin/target evaluation and timely intraoperative decision-making.

Objectives
1. Describe common clinical indications and decision points for intraoperative assessment in breast resections (e.g., when intraoperative input can change operative management).
2. Outline a multidisciplinary workflow for intraoperative specimen assessment, including communication “handoffs” and correlation of clinical/radiologic/pathologic information to optimize interpretation.
3. Identify key pitfalls and limitations of intraoperative assessment (e.g., sampling constraints, interpretive challenges) and apply practical strategies to improve diagnostic accuracy and turnaround time through team-based processes.
