Objectives

Differentiate coaching and directing as supervisory approaches


Recognize their default supervisory style and its impact on resident autonomy, confidence, and performance.


Apply practical coaching skills (powerful questioning, guided reflection, goal setting, etc.) during routine pediatric teaching opportunities.


Improve their ability to intentionally shift between coaching and directing to support resident development while maintaining high-quality, safe patient care.
